New: July 1st 2018

To simplify the management of the contest, the SOTA Committee, decided to return to a single session per year (a contest for SOTA hunters) :

- The contest starts on January 1st and ends on December 31st of the same year (12 months)

To implement this change, we decided to merge the winter 2017 and summer 2018 sessions.
As a result, the contacts that were made by the hunters during the winter of 2017 come to supplement their cumulative points on the competition of 2018 (exceptionally the contest will thus have started on October 1st, 2017 and will end on December 31st, 2018) .

You will find below the rules (pdf files), you can download and print them if you need.

Hello to everyone.

Difference about prominence

Small nuance with the amateur radio SOTA program: 11M & PMR SOTA does not take into consideration the prominence of the summit link click HERE (difference in height between the nearest pass and the summit) to calculate the 150m difference in level.

11M & PMR SOTA takes into account the difference in height between the starting point of the hike and the summit (minimum 150m of height difference).  Indeed, many belvederes are not valid on the Radio amateur SOTA contest because of this calculation of prominence. We reference SOTA that meet our selection criteria to complete the list of radio amateur summits, so do not hesitate to contact us to create new references.

Changes about points (since 2017)

11m & PMR SOTA has its own point system, this system is different from that of Hamradio. Indeed, for reasons of equity, we use a global system of  point and not local one (by country).

The 11m & PMR
SOTA points system varies the number of points from 1 to 100 (100 points for Mount Everest, which is the highest peak on our planet). Unlike the rules established by our Hamradio cousins, these points depend on the height of the activated summit (in meters) which is multiplied by the following coefficient: 0.0113019891500904 .

The committee wish a good activation to the activating teams and friends and a good hunting to those interested by this contest.
